3 Reasons Your Air Conditioning System Is Underperforming

When it is hot outside, you want your home to be a refuge where you can relax and cool off. In order for that to happen, you need your air conditioning to work correctly. If your air conditioning system just doesn't seem up to the job of keeping your house cool this summer, there are a few culprits that could be causing this issue.

Reason #1: Dirty Air Filter

When your air conditioning systems start to misbehave, the first place you should turn to is your air filter. Have you changed your air filter recently? Do you know how to check your air filter? If you know where your air filter is located, pull it out.

If your air filter is dirty and covered in dust and other particles, it is time to either clean it or replace it. A lot of seemingly complex issues with your air conditioner can be fixed by simply replacing the filter on your air conditioning system.

Reason #2: Leaking Ducts

If you have had your air conditioning system installed for a while, you need to make sure that not only is your compressor working correctly, but that your ducts are in good condition as well. It is a common overtime for issues to develop with your ducts. Even a few small pinhole leaks can really decrease the efficiency of your duct system, leaving you feeling like your air conditioner is just not up to the job of keeping your house cool.

If the air that is coming through your ducts still feels cold, but just doesn't seem to be that powerful, you need to have an air conditioning company inspect your ducts. Your duct system may just need to be patched in a few places, or if it is really in disrepair, it may be time for a complete overhaul.

Reason #3: Broken Fan

If your air conditioner is still making cool air, but it just feels like nothing is really coming out of the vents at all, you may have a broken fan. With a broken fan, you will notice a decrease in air pressure coming from all your vents, not just some of them like you would if you have some leaky ductwork.

A broken fan will make it impossible for your air conditioning system to push air throughout your home. Luckily, a broken fan is an affordable repair for a skilled air conditioning technician.

If your air conditioning system just doesn't seem to be doing its job, you may just have a dirty air filter, or you may have a broken fan or some leaking ducts. Put a call into your local air conditioning company, and allow them to help you figure out what is happening with your system.

For additional tips, reach out to a local air conditioning company.
